Setting Up a Successful Web site
The Key to Successful Manufacturing Websites Is Designing them to be friendly both to search engines and human visitors. The way I like to create an industrial website design is to use the home page as a way to generate interest, establish credibility, and as the center of a site full of information your potential client is looking for. So if your selling industrial tubing, use the home page to establish your brand, show that you are a leader in the field, and introduce the unique selling point your manufacturing firm has over its competitors. Make it bright, clear, and interesting, with a good dose of selling mixed in. Then, make the navigation to the information pages readily accessible. I like to use pictures with short introductions as navigation panes. This is called the newspaper layout and it is quite successful both with visitors as well as search engines. These navigation panes lead to category pages, which themselves lead to the specific product descriptions. This gives your site a nice silo structure, which search engines love, naturally increasing your search engine rankings.
Remember, people love to surf. Let them click their way through your site to the information they are looking for. Have each page continue to establish authority and trust in your market as it leads them through the sales funnel towards contacting you for a quote.
Do this and your website will be successful not only in getting search engines to drive traffic to your site but also in getting that traffic to convert to clients once there.
